St Mary's Church, Bridgwater.This church has witnessed much history since 1066 and is one of the few Medieval buildings left in the town.Magnificent architecture and features add to its majesty including the stain glass windows and famous altar painting which dominates the walk up the aisle.Outside we have the 600 ft Tower and 114 feet Spire which can be seen for many miles around Somerset.I intend climbinbg the Tower to video the panoramic scenes and think of the Duke of Monmouth who in 1685 spyed the King's army camped at Westonzoyland.Robert Blake, founder of the British Royal Navy was born in the town and baptized in the church.This church is a reminder of Bridgwater's rich cultural heritage and important position in the past as a nodual centre for sailing vessels with their cargo arriving at its busy port via the River Parrett or canal.Later the Railways ursurped this function.Once the Gateway to the southwest via the A38-----
